Toby's Estate

I always look forward to the weekends when I can catch up with friends. As I'm not a religious brunch person, I haven't been keeping track of the numerous breakfast spots that has mushroomed recently. Besides, I think its always nice to have some spontaneity and stumble across a some place new with no expectations once in awhile.

The raw interior, casual seatings and the smell of freshly brewed coffee lured us in. I had a good feeling. It's called Toby's Estate. Checking out the menu board, the baristas/servers recommended the Eggs Benedict ($12+) and Toby's Big Breakfast ($16+)

Cappucino ($5+)

My eggs benedict with smoked salmon looked like a brunch dream. It wasn't a think and creamy hollandaise sauce, but the light buttery sauce gave a nice balance to the creamy yolk encased in the perfectly poached egg. No wonder it was a popular choice among the diners and half of us at the table that day.

I think the highlight of Toby's Big Breakfast as the buttery grilled brioche bread. It was crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Accompanied with creamy scrambled eggs and mushrooms on top, it was well worth breakfast and lunch on a plate.

A nice setting for brunch on a sunny saturday afternoon overlooking the Singapore River. Sometimes we should take a step back and let some spontaneity take the lead. Try something new, and you'll never know what you may find that may put a smile on your face.
