"I do not know anyone who has got to the top without hard work. That is the recipe. It will not always get you to the top, but should get you pretty near."
~Margaret Thatcher~
I caught The Iron Lady over the weekend and i must say that Meryl Streep is my favourite actress! Meryl Streep's performance overpowered the movie in itself especially with the muddled multi-flashbacks and emphasizing too much on Margaret Thatcher's later life mental illnesses. Despite the mixed reviews of a mediocre storyline, i do think there's a worthy take home message. The importance of perseverance in the midst of life's constant battles. Its a reminder to us that hard work may not guarantee success, but without hard work there will definitely be no success.
The incredibly realistic makeup does deserve and Oscar without a doubt. What's simply transfixing is Streep's perspective of a frail and confused old lady, and her attention to details that brought out the essence of an old lady after her glory days.
A movie worth watching for Streep alone.
